Participants will receive a copy of the Reading to Learn in Social Studies: Grades 6-8 or 9-12 book and hands-on training that will model the reading, writing, and thinking strategies. This session focuses on TEKS streamlining and is tailored specifically for 6th grade. The TEA crosswalk document will be used in this trainining. The training includes: revieings streamlined TEKS, looking at the different types of changes and discussing the implications on assessment using Table Topic discussion cards, analyzing a unit assessment to determine if the questions are still aligned, and discussing activities to determine their alignment.
